A Real Debate
Let's have a REAL debate on foreign policy, the Iraq war, and Iran!
Ron Paul is the only Republican presidential candidate who advocates the foreign policy prescribed by George Washington, our first President, and Robert A. Taft, the great Republican leader and author of A Foreign Policy for America.
All of the other candidates follow in the tradition of Woodrow Wilson, the Democratic President whose interventionist foreign policy was a disaster for the Republic. They differ only in minor details.
Let’s have a real debate on foreign policy between these two different visions! Two-minute sound bites in a “debate” between eight candidates do not do the job. The American people deserve a full-length debate between the two viewpoints.
Since John McCain is currently the national frontrunner among the Republican candidates, we are proposing a debate between Ron Paul and John McCain on foreign policy. If another one of the eight interventionists rises to the top of the polls, the debate would be between that person and Ron Paul.
Give Americans a choice! Please sign this petition now, and forward it to your family, friends, and political acquaintances!
TO: John McCain, Republican Senator from Arizona
Ron Paul, Republican Congressman from Texas
We the undersigned are fed up with politics-as-usual, including poll-driven sound bites crafted behind closed doors by for-hire political marketing professionals.
These do not add to any real understanding of the issues at stake. The American people deserve better. We are not buying a bar of soap. We want real debates on issues of importance.
American foreign policy, the Iraq war, and Iran are crucial issues that deserve in-depth discussions.
It is obvious from the Republican presidential debates held so far that you both have strong but divergent opinions about these vital matters. Both of you are knowledgeable and articulate on the subject.
You have the capability to recreate the famed Lincoln-Douglas debates on the foremost issue of our day. Let's do it!
The sponsors of this petition will be contacting you to request that you agree to a one-on-one debate on the issue of American foreign policy.
We the signers of this petition strongly urge you to accept that challenge.
